ValvesforminingThisarticlefocusesonhydrometallurgicalapplicationsinmining.Sincetheirinvention,knifegatevalves(KGVs)havebeenusedinmanyservicesspanninggeneralandsevereservice.Trialanderrorhasproducednewdesignsandoptionsforolddesigns.TheindustryneedstobecautiousbecauseonemustbefamiliarwithseveralKGVdesignssinceeachhasitsownperformanceattributesandisbestsuitedforparticularapplications.ACGISpaperidentifiedfivedistincttypesofKGVs.Modernversionshavepushedtheoperatingenvelopefromlow-pressure,150-psig(10-Bar)generalpurposevalvesuptoandincludingASMEClass600(1440-psig,100-Bar)severeserviceslurryisolationandcontrolvalves.
